After 33 years with the Department of Defense, Linda retired as a Information Technology Specialist.  When she began her career, the mainframe had 16K of member and relied on "sneaker net" [computer clerks wearing sneakers and walking tapes and other items to and from the computer room.]  During her career, she was a VAXcluster system administrator, managing the Manufacturing Department's network of system.  Later, she moved to computer operations as they were beginning a migration to servers and desktop computers with internal networks and, eventually, internet connections to the outside world.  When NAWC ws privatized, she and her husband (who was an engineer at NAWC) both worked for Raytheon for almost a year before Linda had an opportunity to move back to the government with the Defense Contract Management Agency where she was the team lead for managing comptuer systems and servers within the state.  Her husband, in the meantime, left to work at AT&T.

Linda's hobbies include knitting, gardening, some minor costuming/COSplay, and has had about 50 short stories published in professional markets.  She's also self-published two local histories [The Extraordinary Women of Hancock County:  Suffragists and Trailblazers; and Hancock County Indiana:  100 Years of Black History 1830-1940.

Partially for exercise and partially for the physical and mental challenge, Linda's primary sporting activity is saber fencing (Olympic style).  She began in 2008 and was a member of the US Women's Veteran 60-69 World Team in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

At age three, Linda had scarlet fever and a resulting hearing loss that is not adequately corrected by hearing aids.   Ask her anything, but text works better than the voice and if it's by phone, please try to eliminate background noise.
